The Pelican Bed Fall Mat Alarm is designed to help prevent injury from bed falls and alert the carer if a fall or other movement occurs. It consists of a set of Contact Sheets (sensors) contained inside a padded mat that can be placed alongside the bed and a sounding alarm box that is placed some distance from the bed. The sensors detect movement and sets off the alarm when the occupant of the bed has either fallen onto the mat or stepped on the mat after getting out of bed. It is suitable for people who are at risk of falling out of bed or who may climb over the bedrails and then fall. For someone who is able get out of bed and walk it can act as an early warning system that the person is up because the alarm will be activated as soon as the person's feet touch the mat.

• A warning sign to avoid the tripping hazard is included (To be displayed in a prominent place to reduce the tripping hazard risk).
• The mat folds in two places so that it can be stored behind the bed head when not in use.
• A non-slip mat can be placed under the Bed Fall Mat to prevent it from slipping (not included).
• The Fall Mat cover can be wiped clean with a mild hospital grade disinfectant and must be allowed to dry before use or storage.
• The Fall Mat cover can be removed and washed at up to 80°C, then air dried or tumble dried on a cool setting.
• The internal Contact Sheets cannot be cleaned.
• Replacement internal Contact Sheets are available on request.
